busy Christmas elves

Bobby bought our tree, Michael and Marie put it on the stand and fixed the wicks..
set it up in the living room.  Marie put the skirt and lights on it.
Michael had previously put up the manger scene outdoors and tonight he put lights
on the tree.  Everything looks so beautiful.  The best ever.

Myrick-Fortune ancestor

This is a photo of your great  grandmother Carrie Ryder Myrick and her cousin Carrie Delaney taken in front of Carrie and John's home in Palo Alto.  Carrie and John Fortune are the ones that started all of you Fortunes...Carrie married John whose previous wife died and left him with 7 kids.  Together they had your Grand father Fred who married Lillian and had your Dad.  Also Carrie and John's other kids were all the South Dakota cousins.

We have never seen this photo before...it was sent via e mail by a distant cousin of the Lucy Myrick lineage.....met her a few years back...that is her relative with Carrie in the pic....Carrie Fortune is on the left.  Look at those shoes!!!!!

scroll down to bottom of page for info on Carrie Myrick Fortune

PS...in letter from Helen Pratt, my internet correspondent
"Yes, Carrie E. (Myrick) DeLaney (1863-1944)would have been a Grand Aunt to me, Helen (Hughart) Pratt. Carrie was an older sister to my Grandmother Ida Mary (Myrick) Hughart. The father of Carrie E. (Myrick) DeLaney was Lucius Oscar Myrick. Lucius Oscar was the son, and fourth child of Joshua and Lucy (Jackson) Myrick.  Lucy A (Myrick) Ryder was the third child of Joshua and Lucy (Jackson) Myrick. Lucius Oscar and family lived in Minnehaha County of South Dakota, I would guess that the two "Carries" met and became friends when Carrie (Ryder) Fortune and her husband were ranchers in South Dakota.
Carrie E. (Myrick) DeLaney, and her husband james DeLaney (1861-1945) moved to Palo Alto, don't know when, and died there.
The two Carries must have known each other there, and no doubt visited back and forth."
