We borrowed the cabin from Phil White, a Frat buddy of Dad's.
It was lake front property, but the cabin was the most primitive one I have ever
seen and no place to spend a honeymoon. No fault of Dad's. He had his bachelor
party the night before our wedding and was "hung over" for the duration.....
so didn't care much.
The well was by the front door and Dad couldn't prime the pump except after a lot of work.
The cabin had one room and ihad a big old black stove to cook on.
The bed sagged in the middle like an uncomfortable joke.
In fact the whole place was bad scenario and cold!!!! September!!
I went in swimming...(I used to love cold water) but Dad chickened out!!
The day we left it snowed. An experience better forgotten!!
We went on to Yosemite and stayed at Camp Curry...a step up for warmth.
Had drinks at the Awanhnee Hotel. We were the only ones there.
When I saw this photo of the Tahoe group starting at Homewood I told John and Mary
that this is where we spent our honeymoon, so John photoshopped our names in.
