This letter was written to us by the fellow who put together the web page about Dad and the Normandy invasion and Dad's ships. Interesting.

Dear All,
http://www.navsource.org/archives/10/14/14408.htm
Dear All,
On Thursday, July 4th
2013, in the presence of Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Mr Ian
Dudson, CBE and 200 guests including 25 WW2 veterans, 6 Standard Bearers, a
bugler and a piper, the Combined Operations Command Memorial was unveiled by
General Sir Richard Barrons KCB CBE ADC Gen, Commander of the Joint Forces Command and dedicated
by the Reverend Prebendary Tony Wood.
No greater honour could be bestowed on the service
personnel of yesteryear, than for the Commander of their modern equivalent Force
to honour their memory and achievements by his
presence.
The event is described in photos and text on the Combined
Operations Command website. Just log on to www.combinedops.com and click through the
‘Memorial’ link in the page banner to the memorial sub web. Select ‘Dedication
Ceremony’ from the list of available pages.
The memorial is on the north
bank of the River Tame in the grounds of the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire, England. The memorial is a 15
minute walk from the visitor centre but electric scooters, wheelchairs
(recommend pre-booking to avoid disappointment) and golf style buggies are
available for the less ambulant. Entrance to the Arboretum is free but visitors
are very welcome to make a donation towards its upkeep and development. There is
a charge for parking.
You are included in this mailing because you have
previously contacted me about Combined Operations. If you do not wish to receive
further very occasional newsletters, please let me know and your name will be
removed.
Thank you for your support and
interest.
Kind regards
Geoffrey Slee
